”Why Are My Nails Weak/Brittle After Having Shellac/Gel?”

The simple answer is your nails are dry causing peeling and brittle nails. Shellac cannot damage or weaken your nails once applied and removed correctly. At The Nail Boutique we do not file the natural nail before application, a light gentle buffer is used to smooth out any peeling to lengthen the time you get out of your shellac. When removing your nails are wrapped in cotton soaked in CND Nourishing Remover which is less harsh than Acetone. Because CND Shellac removes so easily there is no filing of the natural nail needed. Unlike Gel Polishes which are very stubborn and may need to be filed off.

However despite a gentle application and removal your nails can become dry under any nail coating (including regular polish) due to a lack of natural oils. Which is why aftercare is so important. We always remind our clients to use their CND Solar Oil as it is an award winning nail treatment.

Just like you need to apply conditioner to your hair (nails and hair are made of the same keratin cells) your nails need to be conditioned too. Would you wash your hair without using conditioner?
